Last week there was a whole ton of stuff in flux that I couldn’t really talk about, and I spent so much time trying to figure out what to talk about that I missed my deadline and last week turned into this week. Sorry about that. Pretty sure that’s my first missed post though, so hopefully I’m due a little grace.
Update-wise, I’ve brought an old friend on to the project who I’ve worked with before and has been a software engineer his whole life – this man is an absolute wizard of a coder and I’m so glad to have him on SEAR. I’m not going to name him without his permission, but suffice it to say he made some major updates to the project just in the first week, just in the first hours honestly.
We worked on some amateur games together in a previous life, including a couple pet projects that we coded from scratch and all the way into existence. Those were some of the best work days I’ve ever had and I’m really really excited to be working with him again.
We had some great progress this week on visualization, the final touches on the tutorial rewrite, and a couple minor (but very cool) UI items. I wasn’t able to work on the NPC AI at all this week due to some unexpected family issues popping up, but hoping to make up for some of that this weekend.
On top of that I wrapped up our market research phase and I’ll share some of the details around that next week. Beyond that honestly it was a lot of stuff I still can’t talk about… which is painful because I have some very exciting announcements. With any luck, I can share them next week!
