SEAR DevBlog, week of 10/19: Playtest goes live on Thursday!

Not even going to recap everything that got done this week. I have been working every day since my last post. Just mad cramming to make sure the stuff that has to get tested in the playtest gets tested. Top priority items - the streamlined level-loader and the leaderboards - are in and working. The NPC AI I had to pivot on and we’re back to a less-than-great-but-better-than-what-we-had-before version. That will have to get revisited for EA but hopefully will be in something resembling a good enough state for Thursday. I suppose you will let me know : ) A bunch of UI improvements, each of which seemed to expose 2 new UI needs. More resonator work. Work on the speedzones, which are actually starting to look pretty cool - we may have a video out about those this week. Some funny, but weirdly-sort-of-cool, bugs that got posted up to TikTok. Which reminds me there’s no TikTok link on the main page. What kind of amateur operation am I running here?
Stressed, exhausted, and super excited.
No rest for the wicked as I still have a million things to do before Thursday. If you’re not signed up yet, now is the time! https://store.steampowered.com/app/4694830/SEAR/
Everyone who participates in the playtest gets the Seeker title and decal for their car when EA launches, and the top 20 ranked players on the leaderboard get a decal of their rank that they can put on their car as well. Can’t wait to see some numbers up on those leaderboards!
